Teacher and Principal Evaluation in Maryland
Based on a multi-year, mixed methods evaluation, this study examines the perceptions of frontline educators regarding the support they receive in understanding and implementing the Teacher and Principal Evaluation (TPE) system, and the use of student learning objectives to measure student growth and improve instruction. The study also explores educators’ current views of TPE implementation and additional supports they need, as well as the changes in their perceptions since the first study year of 2012–13. The Maryland State Department of Education has intentionally used the findings and recommendations from the collection of reports about this study to inform the state’s support to educators throughout Maryland.
