Technical Assistance Support
Aimee Evan is a School Improvement Specialist with the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center. In that role, she helps Maryland design and implement a statewide system of support to assist schools and districts in using evidence-based practices to drive school improvement. Also, as the Talent for Turnaround project lead with the District of Columbia’s Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Aimee helps state and school leaders analyze and implement strategies to address talent development challenges in school improvement contexts.
Evan brings close to 20 years of multidisciplinary experience in education — bridging research, evaluation, and technical assistance and training. She has partnered with states, districts, and schools to build their capacity to use data and research to improve student outcomes. This work led her to develop various technical assistance products, including an on-site learning lab of data use for school improvement, and an on-site and online training for teachers and school and district administrators on successful school turnaround. She also developed effective collaborative team practices that focus on improving systems.
Creating interconnected networks of practice and using in-person and online formats, Evan provides targeted training to state, district, and school leaders in identifying challenges, root causes of those challenges, potential solutions, and progress monitoring strategies in order to redesign education systems to serve the needs of their students better.
