Director of Regional Initiatives and Personalized Learning Lead
Andrea Browning leads technical assistance for states and districts as Director of Regional Initiatives for the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center and also leads the MACC@WestEd’s college and career readiness engagements.
Browning is also a Senior Associate in the Learning Innovations program at WestEd. Her expertise is grounded in a background in child and youth development and informed by nearly two decades of cross-sector experience studying and advising communities about how to best create comprehensive, wraparound systems of support for children, youth, and families. Browning is a nationally recognized leader in personalized learning and previously led the U.S. Department of Education’s Race to the Top-District program, focused on supporting school districts in their transformation to next-generation learning systems. While at the Department, she also directed the District Reform Support Network learning community for innovative district superintendents as well as the Teacher & Leader Effectiveness/Standards & Assessments and Instructional Improvement and Data Systems communities of practice for state education agency staff in Race to the Top states.
Browning began her career as a high school dropout prevention counselor and has since worked at the intersection of research, policy, and practice to identify and share promising education innovations and solutions. Her expertise also spans social-emotional learning, student engagement, systems change, and the design and implementation of multiple pathways for education and career development.
